- A part time candidate needs to spend not more than a week on campus at any given point of time.
- In addition the candidate is supposed to prepare a progress report which updates:
Literature Review (M001RDC)- 10 Credits
Development of Research Proposal (M002RDC)- 10 Credits
Completion of Research-related Modules- 40 Credits
Identification of Research Methodology (M003RDC)- 120 Credits
PHASE 2- Execution of Research (80 Credits)

(A) Work here will involve the extended application of methods and techniques introduced in Phase 1 through subject-specific advanced level theoretical, empirical or practice-based activity. The focus of this work will be the construction and initial approval of a robust research framework which will lead to an original contribution to research. This phase will be driven by the requirements of the individual project and will be agreed between the student and supervisors. A key component in all cases will be the clear exposition of the field and the proposed future research trajectory of the work. In addition, the student should develop subject-specific research planning, communication, presentation and academic writing skills. 40 Credits

(B) In the later part of this Phase the focus will be on to confirm that the student is progressing at the end of each year of study. This will not only include a description of results but will entail the detailed refinement of and, if necessary, revision to the research trajectory of the project, building on the framework previously developed. Again the exact nature of the work will be determined by the nature of the research topic and will be agreed between the student and supervisory team. An updated framework, research activities and associated work plan will identify the basis for a novel and significant contribution to research. 40 Credits
PHASE 3- Completion of Research (280 Credits)

Production and submission of final written thesis in the form of a dissertation and preparation for the viva voce - 40 Credits

Viva Voce of the dissertation with details of the original and significant contribution to knowledge at the level expected for a PhD - 240 Credits
