M.Sc. [Engineering] in Machine Tool Design and Technologies

This course aims to prepare students for developing their careers in Machine tool Design Technologies. The course will impart students the capability to design different types of machine tools by understanding critical functional and operational requirements. The educational experience enables the students to understand and apply state-of-art Computer Aided Engineering tools for design, modelling, simulation, analysis, synthesis and optimisation of machine components and systems in turn optimising machine tool to be designed.

The specific course aims are:

  • > Provide a thorough understanding and applications of the basics and working principles of different types of machine tools
  • > Impart the knowledge of critical functional and operational requirements of different types of machine tools
  • > Impart the knowledge of design of different types of machine tools to meet varied functional and operational requirements
  • > Provide a thorough understanding and application of the concepts of design of machine tools
  • > Understand and apply state-of-art Computer Aided Engineering tools for design, modelling, simulation, analysis, synthesis and optimisation of machine components and systems of machine tools
  • > Develop skills for designing machine components and machine tools with the use of available software
