Indicative contents

  • The laboratory sessions involve the study of industrial drawings, sketching, part modelling, surface modelling, assembly modelling, detailing and reverse engineering techniques of engineering components using industry standard CAD package.
  • Introduction to modelling tool environment, file management, wire frame sketching and constraining (Dynamic Navigator), modifying dimensions, methods of solids construction and editing, use of history tree, creating patterns, draft, shells, etc.
  • Difference between surface and solid models, creating surfaces, advanced surfaces with the use of variational sweep, surface by boundary and curves, editing surfaces, regular exercises to get a hands on surfacing
  • Introduction to assemblies, creating assemblies, assembly constraints, managing assemblies, animation in assemblies
  • Introduction to drafting setup, managing views, adding annotations, dimensions etc, creating bill of materials, import and export of files.
  • Introduction to Team Center environment, items, datasets, product structure editor, groups and users, and demo on work flow management.
