 About the Library
The library was established in the
year 1999, named after Shri. C.R.Ramachandran, the first principal of M
S Ramaiah Institute of Technology. Since then it is growing in size and
content to take present shape. It caters to the academic needs of
postgraduate, training, project, research students, staff members,
alumni and external guests etc..
Growth
The library has grown with about 300
books in the year 2000 to 7000 plus books and e-resources as on date.
The collection is mainly in areas of Mechanical engineering, Electronics
engineering and Management studies. All the books are of high quality
books and are from leading publishers. In addition to the general
services, library provides various value added services including OPAC,
reservation facilities, inter-library loan, TOC of books through OPAC,
video viewing, access to e-resources and photocopying.
Automation
In the Year 2003, library has
implemented management system to automate all the activities of library.
The systems features are like acquisition, cataloguing, transaction,
documentation, statistics, search and OPAC. Readers can use the OPAC to
check availability of titles and reserve the books if required.
Collection
The library has developed an excellent collection of books, e-books,
e-journals in mechanical engineering, Electronics engineering and
Management studies. It has a separate sections for reference books,
stack area, bound volumes, students theses, compact disc and reading
area.
Library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the
form of Books, CDs, Audio and Video Cassettes, Product Catalogs, Bound
Volumes, E-Journal, E-Books, Multimedia CDs, Theses, and document
Scanning facility.
Objectives
- To support the educational and research programmes
of the institute by providing substantial and intellectual access to
information.
- To provide information service, which enables
members of the organization to keep track of significant developments in
the fields of interest.
- To acquire all possible documents, relevant to
present and future needs of students and faculty members.
- To organize and process all documents, in the best
possible way as to provide maximum ease to both students and faculty
readers for its access and retrieval at all times.
- To disseminate all possible information both of
demand as well as in anticipation, to those who need it.

Digital Library / [Library Category]
Digital library has a repository of
various documents in electronic form for the use of the readers. Access
is only in school premises. Digital library can be accessed using a
browser with appropriate IP address.
