The School was established in the year 1999 with the main objective of offering industry relevant postgraduate engineering degree programme.

At present, the School offers Postgraduate Engineering Courses leading to M.Sc [Engineering] degree of Coventry University, UK. The courses offered are Automotive Engineering, Automotive Product Design, Automotive Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality, Digital Signal and Image Processing, Engineering and Manufacturing Management, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Science and Technology, Microelectro Mechanical System, Product Design, Real Time Embedded Systems, Rotating Machinery Design, Signal Processing and Communication Technologies, VLSI-System Design and Wireless and Optical Communication

The Postgraduate courses are industry relevant. The courses have been developed jointly by MSRSAS and Coventry University in association with Indian and UK Academia as well as Industries. The curriculum has been developed as per Coventry University norms and Coventry University; UK confers the M.Sc. [Engineering] degree to successful candidates.

The School also offers M.B.A. degree course in Engineering Operations in collaboration with Coventry University through both Full Time and Part Time routes.

The School conducts research programme leading to Ph.D., degree of Coventry University, UK. The research programme is in the areas of mechanical, electronics and engineering business management. The School offers its Research Programme through its seven research Centers. The Research Centers are:

• Centre for Engineering Mechanics Research (CEMR)
• Centre for Fluid Flow and Energy Systems Research (CFESR)
• Centre for Engineering Design and Manufacturing Research (CEDMR)
• Centre for Digital Systems and Communication Research (CDSCR)
• Centre for Electronic Materials and Devices Research (CEMDR)
• Centre for Mechatronics and Computer Systems Research (CMCSR)
• TIFAC-CORE in Digital Image Processing

Development of skills is important in addition to acquiring knowledge. The School offers industry relevant training programmes. The various training programmes of the school are

• Advanced Certificate Training Programme (ACTP), training courses of six months duration are offered for fresh engineering graduates to make them industry ready.
  
• Industry Specific Training Programme (ISTP), training is imparted to industry sponsored delegates as per the sponsored industry requirement.
  
• Modular Training Programme (MTP), module specific training programme offered at the convenience of the delegate.

The various courses that we offer under ACTP and MTP training programmes are: Automotive Electronics, Applied Digital Signal Processing, Advanced Networking Design, Digital Animation, Embedded System Design, M-CAD, Wireless and Mobile Communications and VLSI-System Design.

The training courses are conducted with sincerity and an emphasis on theory combined with hands on experience. Students are encouraged to carry out their projects in the industry. The students are trained on industry standard tools like CATIA, PRO/E, IDEAS, Unigraphics, ALIAS, ANSYS, NASTRAN, ABACUS, LS-DYNA, FLUENT, CFX, ADAMS, LMS-Motion, LMS-Acoustics, PAM-family of software, ARENA, MATLAB, VX WORKS, EMBEDIX, Rational Rose, LABVIEW, CADENCE, MENTOR GRAPHICS, SYNOPSYS, EMPIRE-3D, MIMICS, ARM PROCESSOR, TMS PROCESSOR, ADSP, Micro-controllers like 8051, Motorola, etc. The students are provided with Lecture notes, Tutorials and other related materials.
The facilities are open for students round the clock for 365 days.

The School gets all its training and PG courses reviewed once in every year by a committee of practicing engineers, academics and scientists, hailing from reputed organizations.

The Centre for Professional Excellence imparts soft skills to all its students. It is compulsory that all the students of MSRSAS need to undergo a series of modules offered by the Centre. The School has created a database of more than 500 industries and it is heartening to say that the students of MSRSAS are well sought after by many hi-tech industries. 

The School has excellent infrastructure. The main strength of the School is the faculty. The in-house faculty members are well supported by the visiting faculty members from overseas universities, industries and research establishments, who deal with case studies. The School has a modern library with a book section, audio-visual section and an Internet section. The digital library has more than 1 TB data.

The School is popular all over South India for its CPD programme, which is conducted for working engineers, students and faculty from educational Institution. The CPD cell conducts seminar once in two months, proficiency courses and corporate training courses of 2-5 days duration.

The School also offers consultancy services in the area of CAD/CAM/CAE and electronics engineering areas through its consultancy Cell - SAS TechnoSolutions. This activity keep the staff abreast of present industrial trends and help them to present case studies to students.

The School has established a Product development and Innovation Centre (PIDC) whose aim is indigenize the products or develop new products for commercialization purpose.

The School is all set to attract overseas students and plan to be an international Institute in due course.
