This course aims to prepare students for
developing their careers in Product Design and Product development. The
course will give students capability to understand the needs of
customers in terms of product performance, usability, manufacture,
assembly, serviceability, aesthetics and value for money, and develop
products that have the necessary competitive features to win and hold
markets internationally. This course is designed to educate delegates
about the process of designing products/systems and look at problems
differently to provide innovative solutions.
The specific course aims are:
• To encourage delegates to take note of customers’ needs and
aspirations, creating innovative concepts and developing them into value
added products.
• To impart the skills and attitudes to the delegates to enable them to
work effectively in a modern multi disciplinary design team.
• To make delegates acquire a sound knowledge and understanding of
design methodology, product semantics, concept generation, enhancement,
evaluation and selection methods, materials and manufacturing processes
and learn to communicate design solutions.
• To make delegates work on design projects, integrating engineering
studies, human factors, computer modelling, drawing and rendering and
develop the ability to creatively tackle and solve a range of design
problems.
To expose delegates to the computer based engineering design, analysis
