M.S. Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies (MSRSAS)
1. What is MSRSAS?
It is an autonomous institution founded by Gokula Education Foundation (M.S. Ramaiah group). The main objectives are to offer
- Industry Relevant Postgraduate Engineering and Management Education
- Research Programme
- Industry Relevant Training
- Continuing Professional Development Programme
- Product Development and Industrial Consultancy
2. Why the School is named as Advanced Studies?
Our focus is on industry relevant postgraduate engineering and
engineering management course on modern and upcoming technology
areas. We update the curricula on yearly basis to take care of
recent developments.
3. Are your PG programmes recognized by any agency/AICTE?
Our education programmes are global. Our PG degrees are awarded by
Coventry University of UK, which is a well-recognized university
world over. The Govt. of UK has created this university. The quality
is controlled by Quality Assurance Agency of UK. The same norms
apply to us. Our students are well absorbed by industries. We have
been offering Ph.D. programmes of Coventry University since 2004.
As of now MSRSAS is not an AICTE approved institution. As per the
Foreign University Act 2005 of AICTE, application has been submitted
by MSRSAS for registration.
4. What we mean by global Education?
As per the World Trade Organization (WTO), the curriculum from the year 2005 onwards will be international and all the degrees awarded by the universities must have international recognition. Knowing this requirement well in advance, MSRSAS collaborated with international university and started offering postgraduate engineering degree programmes since August 2000. Our postgraduate degree courses are recognized internationally. Please read the following News Paper articles for you to know what we are talking about.
5. How do you rate your programmes?
If you look at our syllabus (whichever programme it is), the method of delivery, our reference books, they are comparable to any best universities in the world. We give lots of importance for the learning outcomes.
6. Are your PG courses expensive?
Our courses are not expensive. Most of our PG degree courses cost a
total of around Rs. 2,00,000/-, which is comparable to PG courses of
any of our universities. In addition you get the best reading
material, excellent laboratory facilities round the clock and latest
technical knowledge. You talk to our PG students about their
experience with us.
7. What is Coventry University involvement?
Three of our PG courses are completely developed by them. A few staff members from Coventry University visit us every year to deal with a few modules. They have trained our faculty members. They control the quality of our PG programmes and award degrees. Their library facilities are available to us and they involve in evaluation.
8. What way your PG courses are different from our Indian University PG courses?
In our courses, emphasis is on industrial applications. These
courses enhance your knowledge and orient you towards product design
and development. We encourage applied research and use of
commercially available software and hardware tools for the design
and development of products. We involve practicing engineers in
teaching and use lot of product design and development videos to
support our teaching.
9. What is our acceptance in Indian scenario after doing PG?
We started our courses in year 2000. To begin with we were offering
only three courses, now we have total of 22 courses. Several
students have completed their courses. Most of them are working with
well-known multinational houses in India and abroad. A few of them
are doing their Ph.D. in UK universities. We advise you to talk to
our students and find their experience.
10. What is the selection criterion for PG courses?
We offer courses through part time as well full time routes. The
part time route is for those working and would like to enhance their
qualification. Every April month we admit students for part time.
The selection is based on previous qualification and work
experience. The full time route is for the fresh engineering
graduates and merit is the criterion for selection. At present we
are not conducting any entrance test. Every September month we admit
students for full time route.
11. Can we switchover from one route to the other?
The flexibility is a speciality of this programme
12. Do you assure any job placement?
Placement is need based and market dependent. We do not assure any
job placement to any of our students. But we assist them. The School
can help students to enhance candidate’s knowledge level; skill
level, communication skills and mannerisms but it cannot rewrite
his/her previous records.
13. Do you have enough expertise to deal with such modern subjects?
We have more than 120 teaching faculty, supported by another 13 visiting faculty from Indian industries and overseas. We have experienced, trained, dedicated, and enthusiastic faculty members.
14. What is ACTP?
It is known as Advanced Certificate Training Programme designed to orient the fresh engineering graduates towards industry. In the course emphasis is on skill development on the use of modern design tools.
15. What is MTP?
It is known as Modular Training programme. ACTP comes as a package for duration of 3 months. If you are interested in a specific module you can opt for MTP.
