Continuing Professional Development

Objective

In today's competitive environment, information and knowledge addition is the prime requirement to survive. It is natural, in this big world; most people have the desire to acquire information and knowledge and would wish to share the experiences with people in their field of interest. At the same time very experienced people from the industry would also like to share their experiences with the audiences who are eager to hear case studies which are relevant to their industry or work sphere. In line with this thought MSRSAS has devised a Continuing Professional Development ( CPD) programme, a concept, where interested industry experts would be invited to offer their services to teach as visiting faculty members. The specialty of the CPD programme is that, several topics that are covered will be handled by more than one faculty member to give better coverage and exposure to the attending delegate (from industry, R&D institutions and faculty and students from academic institutions). This programme will be relevant to the industry scenario and not a very mathematical programme as in a regular educational institution. This certainly is expected to make the programme very interesting to the delegate.

Programmes offered by CPD

  1. 1. Seminar/Work Shops
  2. Proficiency Programmes
  3. Corporate Training Programmes

Seminars/Workshops

Seminars are two days programme and workshops are 3 days programme. Seminars focus on lecture sessions whereas workshops focus on a combination of lectures and hands on practice sessions. The School faculty will decide the topic for seminars or it can be an idea picked up based on reports appearing in various forums or based suggestions given by people interacting with the School. There will be eight sessions for two days programme, each session lasting for 1 hr 30 minutes. The resource persons are from industry, leading R & D organizations, and academic institutions. The delegates for the seminar are from industry, academic institutions or any relevant organizations. The frequency of seminars will be normally once in two months. The first seminar was held in the month of December 2000.

Proficiency Programmes

The School conducts proficiency programme for the benefit of working professionals, teachers and students of engineering colleges. There will be four programmes per year. Each programme is organized for a period of 6 weeks with 2 hrs sessions on alternate days in a week. Normally 6-7 modules are released based on market demand six weeks prior to starting of the programme and schedules will be available with the Dean, CPD and marketed through use of brochures, news columns to industries, organizations and educational institutions. Inhouse faculty will offer the modules or any faculty approved by the School. One third of the net revenue earned from the module will be paid to the faculty as honorarium. The first such programme was started in October 2001.
